Barbie-Q

The mercury's rising, the mosquitoes are all starting to get out of the wrong side of the bed, the magnolias have been and gone faster than you can say, well, "magnolia," and ants are marching through kitchens all across Southern Ontario. It could only mean one thing: BBQ season has officially arrived. For those of you reading from places other than North America (or Australia, that other grill-loving land - even though you weird it all up with all those words ending in the "ee" sound), BBQ season in these parts means lots of food and lots of outdoors - even if you're not particularly hungry and it's not particularly warm.

Mudzuks and Vecais know they have a very clever Mamuks, and this time she earned her reputation. Instead of going through all the work, trouble and energy of organizing her own barbecue, she just told her friend Dawn that she was thinking about having one, then cancelled about a week before, so Dawn went through all the work, trouble and energy and had one at her house instead! Clever Mamuks.

But although Mamuks is clever, she is not very impressive at Badminton. Lucky Eamon was willing to teach her. (He's 6).

Here's Mudzuks and some of her friends. negotiating very important matters of skipping rope:

Meanwhile Vecais continues his strange fetish for ceramic garden animals (faithful readers will recall his cat and mole friends from Oma's house). But this time he even managed to enlist his new friend Zeya to "ride the pigs." Yeehaw.

And Mudzuks even managed to steal a few minutes to practice her paparazzi act, including this lovely pic of Shum, and one of the host of the party himself:

As always, by the end it' s pretty hard to tell whether Mudzuks and Vecais are coming or going.

P.S.: Wouldn't BBQ's be more fun if you could actually roast barbies?
