Such a long winter...

Rumour has it that Spring is in the air, but she hasn't quite made it to our backyard yet. As anyone from these parts will surely tell you, winter this year has been one heck of an Energizer Bunny: she keeps on going, and going, and going, and going...

Despite grumbles and gripes from the old folks (we notice Mamuks' face contort with longing and resignation when we look at Anna's or Sofia's tropical toddler escapades on their respective blogs), we've done our best to stay busy, active, entertained and amused.

Indeed, one of the highlights was our long weekend trip down to the Catskills for our first experience of "Sniegaine":

As soon as we arrived, Papuks put us to bed so he could watch a long-awaited version of the "Grants and Astrida Show" (unfortunately, Papuks noted the acerbic edge seems to have mellowed with age. They actually sort of agreed about some things...?)

But at least WE got a good night's sleep. Pancakes for breakfast!

Here's Papuks "interviewing" us:

Mid-toboggan snack:

Snow-tubing at Hunter Mountain:

Then it was a rip-roaring, ear-popping time at the disco! (Notice Vecais' progressive stages of undress.)

The next day, Mudzuks learned to skate, but preferred the horizontal version:

And here we are out on the lake.

Back on the home front: Mudzuks cepa kukulisus...

... kamer Vecais macas tos izspiest. (Sorry, no translation on that one.)

Mamuks teaches us how to make Maple Syrup snow candy. Yum.

But it's certainly not all work and no play. Sabina dragged her folks over for some chocolate fondue one night. We're not exactly sure what Papuks put in the fondu, but things did get sort of rowdy...

Papuks regularly took us on all sorts of neighbourhood jaunts, including this one up to our grandfolks' home:

And here's our journey with Nan into the "real" sugarbush:

But despite our undying love for our organge toboggan, we swear, somewhere margaritas and beachtowels are calling our names...
