House Guests
Before taking off to celebrate our own Dickensian Christmas Carol, we were treated with an early xmas gift in the form of three warm bodies straight from the Motherland. Although the visit was intermittant, hectic, muddy, rainy, cold, and left everyone with some variation of the barfs, the coughs, the runs or the snots, it was still far too short, and Mudzuks and Vecais look forward to seeing Z (and her entourage) again soon!
Our frollicks start off with a little walk in the woods... (don't they all?) and then a little roll down the hill... It was actually far more muddy than it appears here, as our overtaxed washing machine will surely attest.
Here, M, V and Z model their new matching longjohns (and yes, they are meant to be worn on your head)
The next day it was wet, rainy and cold (er, for a change?), but we managed to find a warm puddle to splash in nonetheless.
Then our guests took off to the Big Smoke for a few days, but before we knew it they were back! Given that the schedule was a little overloaded, but noting that a trip to this neck of the woods (especially as it was Z and L's first) is not complete without a visit to our own backyard 7th wonder, we squeezed it in one night after dinner but before cucu muiza. We thought it was pretty spectacular from this particular perspective, but you can be the judge...
The next morning big V turned the big 3, so we began the day with gifts over brekkie (de rigeur...)
And as a special birthday treat, we checked out "zoom zooms" - although admittedly, there was a little less zooming than anticipated... once again thanks to pesky flu bugs hiding behind ears and beneath fingernails.
In the pm S joined us for some cake decoration extraordinaire - even if Mamuks was a bit of fascist in terms of where we were allowed to put the tree trunks (geez, its only a cake!) (but yes, she is a wee bit chuffed with herself. Who needs a phd when you can decorate cakes for a living?)
And despite letting off a high-pitched wail when we tried to sing the third verse of "Daudz baltu dieninu," Vecais still thoroughly enjoyed a little jungle fever (um, perhaps a little too literally).
And finally, after all the madness and mayhem, they shoved us in the bath and told us to wash away our sins. We don't think we were entirely successful.

Can't catch me...
... I'm the Gingerbread Man!
So it turns out Vecais is quite the enthusiastic baker as well. Here he is, showing off his culinary skills. (The Gingerbread Girl, aka Mudzuks, unfortunately had spent the previous evening barfing once an hour, so her regular enthusiasm was somewhat dulled.)
