Same Place, Different Year

Yes, we know it is hardly summer anymore, but hey, it was 25 degrees today, so we can still pretend. And that also means we can blog about our summer adventures feeling slightly less guilty about the fact that an entire season has changed since your faithful blogger last put fingers to keys....

Said faithful blogger is happy to report that this time the hiatus was less to do with mounds of work and more to do with mounds of vacation! Mamuks finally put her little baby Beast to bed on August 5th, announced that "the Doctor is in", then promptly hung up the "Gone Fishing" sign.

First stop: Mamuks favourite lake (which makes a small guest appearance in aforementioned little baby Beast).

Exceptionally faithful readers will recall that our very first post ever was from our first trip to Silent Lake. And yes, we returned again this summer for the third time, back at our favourite place to camp. So while some of the sights and views may look familiar, hopefully you will notice a few more inches added to the little people, and probably the big people as well. We love Silent Lake! (And it loved us too).

Wood sprites were in full bloom this time around (and yes, the woods IS a very appropriate place for a pink sparkly skirt).

Vecais and Mudzuks testing the waters...

They're nature-loving AND crafty!
Our lovely lake at dusk...
More wood sprites...
After dark, the hard stuff comes out!

Mudzuks got right into the campfire thing this year, and here she is enjoying that veritable delicacy, "salami au feu"...

And she finally stayed awake long enough one night to enjoy a post-twilight campfire. We even tried our hand at fire-writing (can you read what it says?)

Papuks with hatchet. Notice Mudzuks' protective embrace of her brother...

Enjoying the view.
And more wood sprites...
Mudzuks and Vecais stand guard while Mamuks enjoys her evening skinnie... but they did fail to mention that canoe...

P & V:
Mudzuks' latest eco-art installation (very cool, in fact)

Breakfast, yum.
Hide and seek!
As Vecais would tell anyone who would listen, "We hiked around Bonnie's Pond!" And he did! Mamuks and Papuks were quite chuffed too that he and his sister did it all with their own two feet:
Evening bathtime down by the rocks:

Mamuks looks slightly more happy that Vecais is clean than Vecais looks happy that Vecais is clean! But at Silent Lake, Mamuks is generally always happy.
