Remember, remember, the 18th of November!

The 18th of November is Latvian Independence Day - a big deal for those nutty Baltic folk. It was also a big day for Mudzuks (er, although it happened on the 12th), as this marked her official debut as a member of the Latvian School Performing Posse. (How many of us haven' t been there, done that...)

Getting her into her tautas terps was reasonably uneventful, although she was a bit annoyed at the buttons (buttons are just so passe in M's fashionista world)...

It was all a bit easier when she saw that Kaiva had one of those weird outfits too.

Posing for the school picture, was, well, you can imagine. 17 little Itchy-and-Sweaties standing on the steps into the church while hoardes of septo- and octogenarians vie for the cash-money pews... Its a wonder nobody lost a limb.

As for performing her role in the little ethnographic presentation... Well, let's just say this Star of Screen and Stage has yet to come into her own. Perhaps she's just still waiting for that role that speaks to her inner artist.

Playing with Vecais and the Eglisi is just so much more interesting.

It was only a matter of time...

What they said to Mamuks:

M: Good night Mamuk! Thanks for the milk!
V: Ah wha ee ba!

What they said to each other once Mamuks left the room:

M: It was only a matter of time before she started dressing us in matching outfits. God help us!

V: I know. She swore she would never do it. Too many traumatic memories of matching cream dresses and posing for pictures with balloons when she was a child. How quickly they forget! But its just going to get worse you know.

M: I know! Soon she' ll have Papuks and herself in matching his-and-her acrylic sweatsuits too. With us in the mini-versions!

V: Keep her away from German television!

M: Yeah, and if she rents that damn Royal Tannenbaums again, eat it or barf on it or something, would you?

V: It' s a deal. Good night. Love you.

M: Love you too, Vecais.

The Formidable Mudzuks Turns Three!

Well, she actually hasn't yet, but of course that did not stop her from having a party. The afternoon got started in typical Diva fashion, with a party girl who was up for anything but partying...

But her guests arrived and soon the joint was swingin'. Mudzuks sends her thanks to everyone who showed up and helped her celebrate.

But it looks like she missed her pedicure appointment.

THE CAKE: So in the month leading up to the event Mudzuks developed the habit of browsing through Mamuks' Kids Cake-Making Book. Did she like the ladybug? Noooo... Did she like the whale? Noooo.... Did she like the balloons? Noooo.... No, Mudzuks, from first look, was decidedly decided: She wanted the barbie swimming pool cake. No other would do. So 2 kilos of fondant icing later...

Marjorie, Kaiva and Krusa putting the sharks in the pool (that was Mamuks creative interpretation of the design)

Ummm.. swimming?

Happy Hallowe'en

Twas a frightful night at the Kaka-Poo mansions. Mudzuks was unleashed on her first bona fide trick-or-treating adventure ("You mean all I have to do is say 'trick or treat'? And they give me CANDY? At EVERY house? Why have you been witholding this information??") while Vecais stayed home to keep Papuks from being too frightened by the prowling ghouls...

Our first trick-or-treater, River the Lion, made himself rather comfortable (he must have heard we were giving out the chocolate made with genuine breast milk)...

Comfortable until Hugo got home, that is. Hugo rather liked the look of River' s nose...

...and his hair (must be because skeletons have neither).

No worries, big sis kept him in line.

Before she headed out for a night of candy collection with Kaiva the Monkey, that is.
